One thing companies can do to maximize the earning potential of their survey crews is to invest in a robotic surveying instrument.  Now some of you might say, "I can't afford a new robot" or "I don't want to spend money on new equipment when times are tough".  Sure these are valid concerns and I am not suggesting your rush out and buy new equipment which is not what I'm proposing.  What I am suggesting is if you've ever considered buying a robot now is a good time to look for used instruments.
