Total Station Radio Link
FieldHawk Dual Radio Kit
Long Range Wireless Link!
FieldHawk Dual Wireless Remote / Robotic
The FieldHawk Dual radio kit provides you with a long range wireless radio link between your total station and data collector.
The radio link range between the base and rover radio is designed for 1200' or 365 meters. While this is a conservative estimate, you can achieve longer distances under normal conditions.
Users use our radio systems in one of two ways:
- Robotic Control - Users of robotic total stations use FieldHawk to provide a long range wireless link between the data collector at the prism pole and their total station.
- Remote Control - Some customers use FieldHawk to provide a wireless link that allows them to run the data collector remotely from their non robotic total station. Some customers find it useful to put the more experienced person at the prism pole, and leave the instrument operation to those with less experience.

Power
FieldHawk is powered using an internal 2400 MHa Li-Ion battery. Under normal conditions, you can expect 30 - 40 hours of continuous use between charges. However, if you run out of power, FieldHawk includes an external 9V battery compartment so you can complete your job using standard 9V batteries.
FieldHawk Dual or FieldHawk Dual-Wireless?
Both systems will provide you with exactly the same long distance wireless range between the base and rover radios. The only difference is that with the FieldHawk Dual you have to connect to the rover radio with a cable, where as with the Dual-Wireless you can connect with Bluetooth.
The Dual-Wireless system is more expensive, but does provide you with the most flexibility. An important thing to note is that the Dual-Wireless rover radio does not have a serial port, and only supports Bluetooth connections.
What do I Need?
- Total Station - You need a standard total station that has a serial communication port. At the instrument you will connect the FieldHawk base radio using your existing instrument cable. All brands of total stations including Topcon, Sokkia, Leica, Trimble are compatible with FieldHawk.
- Data Collector - You will need a data collector to connect to the other FieldHawk radio. Your data collector must have a serial (DB9 Male) port available.
