Post-Sales Questions - FAQ
The FieldHawk radio system is easy to setup and use. This page is devoted to helping solve common issues that we hear most often. We have this section split up into two main categories for either the FieldHawk Single or FieldHawk Dual radio systems. FieldHawk Single Common Questions
When I try to connect my data collector to the FieldHawk Single system, I get asked for a passkey. What is the passkey? When we configure the FieldHawk Single radio, we turn on Authentication and define a passkey which is similar to a password you would use on your computer. Some devices only allow authenticated connections which is why we set this as a default. In case you wondering, we always use a passkey of 0000. FieldHawk Dual Common QuestionsWhen I am far from the instrument, does it help to place the radio high on the pole? That depends. If you have a clear line of sight such as on a construction site or in a city land scape, you can normally leave the radio situated lower on the pole. If you are working in tall grass you should consider placing the radio higher on the pole for better reception. Does the placement on the instrument tripod affect range? For shorter distances (less than + / - 150m / 492 feet) the placement doesn't really matter. For longer distances you should try and place the radio on the tripod so it faces the area you are going to be working in the most. Do the radios work with instrument splitter cables? Some instruments are powered by an external battery and use a splitter, also referred to as a "Y" cable. We have customers using this configuration so yes FieldHawk can be used with splitter cables.
